Ink Blot Cages

Backdrops of hazy heather

Conceal caged, clipped feathers.

Black bleeds into white–

Ink blot distortions,

Diffused in shades of gray.

So, right looks wrong,

And wrong seems okay.

The willingly blind

Pretend to look away.

They tell the bird

Its cage is a castle,

They convince the bird

Its lock is safety,

And they conceal the key

To freedom in their hands.
