Unfettered Daughter of Zion

She walks over gold grains

Grit in her step,

She tolerates burns

Glazing her shoulders,

She licks salt off her lips

Rubs sand in the wound,

Turns scorched cheeks

Upward,

Diuturnal Daughter,

She was born to bear heat.

Isaiah 52: Captive Daughter of Zion

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

For thus saith the Lord God, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.

Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

Know this, Unfettered Daughters: when you fight, there will be backlash. We forgive the duplicitous ones their sins against us, but it’s not our forgiveness they need.

Cheap counterfeits expose themselves when up against the light of truth. Ridiculous, spurious abasement reveals moral departures and unholy desperation. Love doesn’t bear such falsehoods, and those who spitefully spew them are not of God.

Daughters, you can show compassion and still stand your ground. We are messengers, and our messages are hard truths. Some are blind and cannot see, but we are not permitted to join them in blindness. We can’t pretend the dark isn’t so dark. By default, that would dim God’s light. God is your strength. Continue in truth, light, and love.

God is restoring wrong to right, even if His plan makes others tremble. Dear Daughter, God chose you to bear witness. God is mighty, He has mighty plans for you, and His will, not the fearful’s, be done.

I’m reminded of Kari Jobe’s song “The Garden”:

“Faith is rising up like ivy cringing for the light. Hope is stirring deep inside me, making all things right. Love is lifting me from sorrow, catching every tear. Dispelling every lie and torment, crushing all my fears…Now I see redemption growing in the trees. The death and resurrection in every single seed.”

God advocates for His Daughters. He will “crush all [our] fears with [His] perfect love,” and He will reveal all truth in His light. There is a clear line of demarcation between good and evil. Any on God’s side will be for His messenger. Any against you aren’t of God, no matter what they profess at a pulpit.

So, Daughters, be both fierce and gentle in spirit, unyielding in truth, and firmly planted. Head raised to eye-level at the fight; head bowed low in humility at prayer. Follow God.

Remember, none can separate you from the love of Christ. You are not forsaken. God has redeemed the remnants, the driven-out Daughters (and Sons) of Zion. “Do justice…walk with kindness…and live humbly with your God.” Micah 4.
